Are you looking to join a collaborative environment where you will play a pivotal role in navigating complex legal landscapes? Are you ready to help our business thrive within the bounds of our governance and to aid our project teams in securing opportunities? Our success is driven by our people and we are looking for a Senior Legal Advisor whose expertise will help us mitigate risks whilst driving our business forward.

If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our Legal department as our new Senior Legal Advisor and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role

This is a 12-month fixed term full time position and as our new Senior Legal Advisor you will be part of a dynamic team based in various locations across England. You will deal with non-contentious matters including complex contractual arrangements. Your role will focus on identification and management of legal risk, contract negotiation and drafting coupled with the provision of commercial and pragmatic legal advice. You will also provide contractual support on matters which may arise during the lifecycle of the project.

This role is key in ensuring that the Legal team’s support to the business is efficient, accurate and proactive so that contract negotiations can progress as swiftly as possible, but without unnecessary risk.

Your key responsibilities will be:

1. Reviewing primarily construction professional services contracts (both bespoke and industry standard such as NEC and JCT) as well as other project legal documents, including responding to requests for contract amendments to Ramboll standard agreements
2. Providing tailored advice to the Executive Board on risks in contracts and preparing necessary supporting documentation
3. Working on a range of projects across different markets with a strong emphasis on transport and offshore wind projects
4. Advising project directors and project managers on risks related to contractual issues arising within projects both prior to execution of the relevant agreement and during the project lifecycle
5. Leading or assisting in contract negotiations with external clients or their representatives

About you

You will be a legal advisor or construction lawyer with experience in reviewing professional appointments, frameworks, collateral warranties, novation agreements and other ancillary documents. To succeed in this role you must have a legal background, with substantial experience advising on complex engineering or construction contracts either as an in-house contract reviewer/legal advisor or contract manager, however applications from private practice solicitors are also welcome.

You will have:

6. Degree or equivalent qualifications in law
7. Substantial experience in providing in-house legal support in a consultancy or engineering company or advising developers, contractors or similar clients in a law firm
8. A solid understanding of contract and construction law and associated contractual risks
9. Commercial acumen and the ability to take a risk-balanced approach
10. Experience in complex construction/consultancy contract drafting/negotiation
11. Excellent communication abilities with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
12. Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
13. The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
14. The ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload effectively

What we can offer you

15. Leaders guided by our Leadership Principles
16. A culture that welcomes you as the unique person you are
17. Inspiration from colleagues, clients, and projects
18. The long-term thinking of a foundation-owned company
19. 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays
20. Matched pension contributions
21. Private medical cover and life assurance
22. Flexible and Hybrid working to allow you to manage your personal and professional time (fully remote can be also considered)
