Job Overview
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to develop specialist skills in Paediatrics within our Children’s Team based at Cedar House, St Michael Site, Enfield. The role offers professional development, supervised clinical practice, and the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a high standard Occupational Therapy service to children aged 0‑18 referred to the Enfield Children’s Occupational Therapy Department.
* Lead and contribute to service planning, delivery, evaluation, and improvement initiatives.
* Manage a defined caseload of children in community, SEN/EHCPs and special schools.
* Supervise, appraise and train students and junior staff as required.
* Work autonomously with access to supervision and lead on a designated clinical area within the team.
* Develop evidence‑based clinical pathways and treatment plans.
* Deliver family‑centred, occupationally focused assessment and intervention to children with additional needs.
* Collaborate with local authority SEN service, teachers, community providers, social workers, SLT, psychologists, dieticians, paediatricians, physiotherapists and other professionals.
* Be flexible to service demands regarding work location.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of children and young people with a range of needs including complex disabilities.
* Provide occupationally focused assessment and intervention, including second opinions on EHCP OT provision and attendance at SEN Tribunals.
* Act as an expert advisor in differential diagnoses and specialist advice for complex physical, social, mental health and cognitive disabilities.
* Set family‑centred intervention goals with children and/or their parents/carers.
* Maintain high standards of evidence‑based clinical practice, using outcome measures to monitor achievement of person‑centred goals.
* Analyse the interplay of child, environment, and activity, identifying appropriate strategies and intervention.
* Devise and manage specialised treatment plans, equipment provision, parental support, hand splints, advice, and programmes.
* Form productive relationships with parents/carers who may be under stress.
* Advise and teach parents/carers on ongoing Occupational Therapy management programmes.
* Ensure effective management in integrated support plans with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
* Possess knowledge and skills for moving and handling children in school and community environments.
* Assess and manage clinical risk, support junior staff with risk assessment, and comply with Trust lone working policy.

* Dip. COT or BSc OT or international equivalent
* HPC Registered OT
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Member of BAOT
Experience
* Extensive postgraduate clinical experience of Occupational Therapy
* Extensive relative experience and practise in Children’s Occupational Therapy, including experience with Children and Young People with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
* Extensive experience of working in Special school setting and with student with ASD
* Experience in high level clinical audit
