Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist
Location: Red Moor School, Lanlivery PL30 5BT
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience; basic grade SALT offers from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+, Highly specialist from £48,000+)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to overlap with core school hours. Part-time hours may be considered. Contract: Permanent (term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances)
Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils within an education setting.
* Work collaboratively with the education team to support pupils who may have developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs.
* Hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* adhere to the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to guide practice.
* Support the development of an enhanced speech and language offer through the growth of apprentices, students and therapy assistants.
Essential Criteria
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree
* Valid and up-to-date HCPC Registration
* Registered member of RCSLT
* At least 5+ years practicing experience working at the specialist level with the client group in a similar setting
* Highly developed specialist knowledge and clinical understanding underpinned by theory and practical experience
* Experience in multidisciplinary working across a range of settings with some responsibility for service and team performance
* Experience communicating with and working with families, relatives and carers
* Experience developing training and delivering in-person presentations
* Experience providing professional and clinical supervision
* Experience taking part in research projects and conducting audits
Skills
* Exceptional relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills
* Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Advanced knowledge of core SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Advanced knowledge of approaches related to neurodivergence, cognitive differences/difficulties and trauma-informed practice
