Graduate Test Engineer role overview
The Graduate Test Engineer role is a great opportunity for a Maths or Science graduate, to kickstart their career in engineering. As a Graduate Test Engineer, you'll help deliver accurate and reliable services while gaining hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.
You'll get involved in setting up instrumentation, preparing rigs, testing equipment, and supporting Senior Engineers with reports and proposals. There may also be chances to support projects off-site, giving you variety and real-world experience.
Along the way, you'll build skills in data analysis, documentation, and working to industry standards such as ISO/IEC It's a role that offers plenty of learning and development while making a real impact.
What you'll do as a Graduate Test Engineer:
Operational Excellence & Efficiency
* Deliver and optimise a wide range of services with accuracy and speed.
* Validate procedures for new/existing products, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
* Diagnose faults, report findings, and implement improvements to reduce downtime.
* Manage resources (tools, equipment, materials) effectively.
* Drive initiatives to enhance service delivery while ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Support strategic projects and business objectives.
Technical Expertise
* Act as a go-to resource for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
* Stay current on emerging technologies and best practices.
* Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training across teams.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
* Respond to enquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
* Share insights and technical input to support decision-making.
To be considered for the role Graduate Test Engineer:
* Maths or Science Degree (or previous experience in a similar role).
* A practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to doing things right.
* Comfortable using computers and learning new systems.
* Critical thinking skills to assess situations and make sound decisions.
* Awareness of industry standards such as ISO/IEC 17025.
* Experience using technical equipment or software tools.
