Job Description
Our client, a well-established legal firm with a specialism in landlord and tenant law, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join their friendly, collaborative Barry-based team. This is an additional role to support their expanding housing law caseload.
Key Responsibilities
1. Handle landlord and tenant residential cases, providing knowledgeable advice on notices, HMO regulations, injunctions (access and anti-social behaviour)
2. Assist clients with rent repayment orders, disrepair claims, harassment, unlawful eviction issues, and trespass cases
3. Support enforcement actions involving High Court Sheriffs and bailiffs
4. Work on cases involving company-let agreements, particularly local authority transitions
5. Draft legal documents and correspondence clearly and professionally
6. Provide advice over the phone in an eloquent, approachable manner
7. Collaborate with the team, following firm procedures and maintaining reliability
8. Attend court when necessary (under supervision or as directed)
Person Specification
9. Demonstrable experience in housing law, particularly landlord and tenant matters
10. Exposure to advising social and private tenants
11. Strong understanding of relevant housing legislation and practice areas
12. Friendly, approachable, solution-focused attitude
13. Excellent time management and organisational skills
14. Team player who thrives in supporting and being supported by colleagues
15. Professional and confident communicator
16. Detail-oriented and able to follow policies precisely
17. Reliable and committed
Additional Information
18. Salary: £25,000 - £28,000/year DOE (with potential wiggle room)
19. Location: Primarily office-based in Barry; hybrid may be considered for candidates living an hour or more away
