How Youll Make a Difference
As a Housing Officer you will manage quality private sector accommodation across South Gloucestershire, for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, and support people to sustain their tenancies.
What You Will Be Doing
* You will be responsible for all aspects of property management, including lettings, monitoring rents, organising repairs, inspecting properties and liaising with landlords.
* You will maintain regular contact with tenants, understanding and identifying concerns and signposting to the relevant services.
* You will promote the service to potential new landlords to expand the existing property portfolio.
* To identify the right properties for tenants, you will work closely with landlords and the HomeChoice team.
* You will carry out administrative tasks and complete the necessary paperwork to sign up new tenancies.
* You will regularly visit tenants in their homes, sometimes at short notice.
What We Need From You
* Relevant practical experience of housing management.
* Working experience delivering housing services to vulnerable people and minority groups.
* Knowledge of landlord and tenant responsibilities, eviction procedures and legal processes.
* Effective communication and strong problem‑solving skills to address issues effectively.
What You Need To Know
* All applications will be initially reviewed. If shortlisted you will be invited to complete a short psychometric assessment, followed by an interview if successful.
* A basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
* You must have regular access to a vehicle or an alternative means of travel, as you will need to travel throughout the authority and nearby areas, sometimes at short notice.
Interviews will be held on 9th December 2025.
