Construction Manager – Overhead Lines (OHL)

Role Overview: Join one of the UK’s leading infrastructure providers as a Construction Manager / Experienced Site Manager within our Power T&D team. Based in Ipswich, this key role supports the delivery of the BTNO Project, focusing on the planning and execution of Overhead Line (OHL) construction activities. You’ll take the lead in managing and delivering site operations, ensuring safety, environmental and quality compliance while supporting our broader project delivery goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, manage and deliver all site-based OHL construction activities to time, budget and quality standards.
* Ensure safe and sustainable delivery, aligning with project programme and client expectations.
* Drive high standards in HSEQ performance across the work area.
* Ensure appropriate resources, systems, and structures are in place for effective construction delivery.
* Foster a high-performing team culture, promoting collaboration and development.
* Manage effective communication and coordination with project stakeholders.
* Monitor construction progress, manage risks, and implement continuous improvement.
* Provide leadership and direction to site teams and subcontractors, inspiring excellence.
* Balance customer needs, project constraints and business objectives (time, cost, quality, scope, risk).
* Manage Site Managers / Project Engineers to ensure all work meets safety and technical policies.
* Plan work and oversee requirements for materials, plant and equipment.
* Oversee resource requirements and manage staff for the project.
* Supervise labour force, monitor subcontractors, check materials, inspect work and oversee quality control.
* Ensure work is carried out in accordance with NRSWA and liaise with Highways Authorities, Local Authorities, and other utilities.
* Deliver project on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress.
* Check design documents.
* Maintain a working environment that meets safety, environmental legislation, engineering and customer standards.
Qualifications
* Full Clean UK Driving Licence.
* Previous experience working on OHL National Grid Projects is desirable.
