CFO Evolution Support Worker in Custody
The Growth Company's (GC) Justice Services has an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker in Custody, you will support participants in custody to prepare for release and successfully resettle into their local communities by providing practical help, advice and guidance, as well as motivation and understanding.
The base for this role will be HMP Hull, with some requirement to work at HMP Humber as and when required depending on business needs. Therefore, access to a car and a full UK driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage and case-manage eligible participants on the CFO Evolution programme by providing ongoing resettlement support.
2. Create an Action Plan, planning and designing appropriate activities, training programmes and interventions.
3. Provide advocacy, mentoring, advice and guidance and training interventions that meet the needs of individual participants.
4. Establish and deliver high-quality, engaging 1:1 and group sessions.
5. Monitor and track participant's progress (distance travelled).
6. Develop strong relationships with HMPPS/agencies offering support.
7. Contribute to making contact and establishing relationships with new participants and assist them to understand the benefits of engaging with the CFO Evolution programme.
8. Where appropriate, feed into stage 2 and 3 of the CFO Wing provision by providing holistic wrap-around with general elements of resettlement support.
9. Complete the pre-release inventory and associated actions.
10. In collaboration with the local CFO Activity Hub, plan for and facilitate effective Through the Gate and warm handover to the relevant Support Worker in the Community.
About You:
11. Experience in working with offenders, or those disaffected and marginalised from mainstream services, in training, guidance, advice and counselling environments is desirable.
12. High level guidance skills, with the ability to deliver one-to-one and group sessions to at least Grade 2 standard.
13. A warm, approachable empathetic style and the ability to establish a rapport and build relationships with participants that supports their progression to education, training and employment and facilitates desistance from crime.
Skills Required:
14. Information, Advice and Guidance and/or teaching qualifications (or equivalent) are desirable. However, significant experience working closely with individuals and supporting their personal progression is considered most important.
15. Understanding of the factors influencing offender rehabilitation, including knowledge of desistance theory.
16. Familiarity with the National Probation Service or HM Prison environments, as well as an understanding of local and national training, education, and employment opportunities and the wider landscape of training and guidance provision.
