The charity, the oldest in Rutland is proud of its reputation as being the leading provider of accommodation for older people. We provide independent housing and have 103 almshouses on 3 different sites in Oakham and Uppingham, with a historic 14th century chapel. The Property Works & Safety Manager will work closely with the Repairs and Maintenance Manager, and CEO, ensuring all our properties meet the standards and regulations of all our properties. We are a small friendly team, and we are looking for someone with good interpersonal skills, excellent IT knowledge and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will be organised, with a “can do” attitude – no two days are the same. Key Attributes and Experience: The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following: Knowledge of housing legislation and ‘Decent Homes’ Standards Health & Safety (IOSH) and Property qualifications, such as NEBOSH, or equivalent Experience of overseeing and supporting the work of staff Strong organisational and time management Ability to meet deadlines and liaise with external contractors Able to work on own initiatives, as well as part of a team Excellent communication and IT skills Ability to understand external quality standards that apply to a registered housing provider (Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and GDPR, etc.) Full, clean Driving Licence Available for a staff out of hours on call rota About Almshouses Almshouses have a long history in Britain dating back to medieval times. Today there are approximately 2,500 almshouses in the UK providing accommodation for local people.
