This exciting new role will deliver the CoSTED Project at UHL and QE hospitals. The project provides free e-cigarettes to smokers while they wait in the Emergency Department.
The role will oversee the delivery of the project under the guidance of the Stop Smoking Team Lead and will work with band 4 colleagues to set up, run, and analyze the project on a day-to-day basis.
Having strong communication and partnership skills, as well as being a trained stop smoking advisor, are essential for this position.
Traveling between sites will be a regular requirement of the role.

* Be an active member of the LGT’s Stop Smoking Team, working closely with the LGT’s Emergency Department Team.
* Act as a point of contact for queries from stakeholders regarding COSTED implementation.
* Understand patient numbers and trends for A&E attendances and deliver the COSTED intervention at locations and times agreed with the Emergency Department.
* Engage with patients attending A&E, identify current smokers, and use behavioral change techniques to motivate them to take up the COSTED intervention.
* Collaborate with Public Health colleagues and community stop smoking service providers to ensure support pathways for smokers willing to quit.
* Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the required system, including baseline data and follow-up data at 4 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months, and assist in report preparation and submission.
* Coordinate with the vape starter kit provider, ensuring correct data entries and clear communication with participants about accessing top-up e-liquids.
* Develop stop smoking resources and materials, including written patient information, and utilize existing resources to meet individual needs.
* Manage a caseload of participants for the COSTED intervention independently.
