Project Controls Manager – Nuclear Project

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to lead the planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting functions for a major UK nuclear project. The role is critical in ensuring effective project governance, compliance with UK nuclear regulations, and delivery to time, cost, quality, and safety objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the project controls function, including planning, scheduling, cost management, risk, and reporting.
* Develop and maintain the integrated project control framework in alignment with UK nuclear industry standards, NEC contract requirements, and company policies.
* Establish and oversee the project baseline (scope, schedule, and cost) and ensure robust change control processes are implemented.
* Manage and mentor a team of planners, cost engineers, risk analysts, and reporting specialists.
* Produce accurate, timely project performance reports, including earned value analysis (EVA), forecasts, and variance analyses.
* Drive the use of project management systems and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, ARM, EcoSys, or equivalent).
* Work closely with project managers, engineers, commercial teams, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives.
* Monitor and challenge contractor schedules, cost forecasts, and risk registers to ensure realism and accountability.
* Support regulatory and stakeholder reporting requirements, including submissions to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and other relevant bodies.
* Promote and embed a culture of nuclear safety, compliance, and assurance across project controls activities.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in project controls leadership within nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated major infrastructure projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK nuclear sector regulations, governance, and assurance frameworks.
* Demonstrable experience with Primavera P6 and other project controls systems.
* Solid understanding of earned value management (EVM), cost forecasting, and risk management techniques.
* Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and develop high-performing teams.
* Degree in engineering, project management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Professional membership/accreditation (APM, PMI, or equivalent) preferred.
* Active or eligible for UK security clearance.
