Seeking a highly experienced clinician to work within Northern Sydney Local Health District's (NSLHD) highly regarded and well established Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Team. Where you'll be working Brookvale Community Health Centre, Northern Beaches What You'll Be Doing The Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Clinician (PIMHC) is based in sector Mental Health Services and a member of an LHD-wide PIMHC Team. Working with sector Mental Health Services, the PIMHC will provide PIMH specific consultation liaison to MHS and service partners;intensive short term mental health care and longer term care coordination for pregnant women and parents who are primary carers for an infant up to 2 years of age, and who have severe and complex mental health problems. Priority will be based on severity of parental mental illness and/or complex management or family and other social issues that impact on the care of the infant. The PIMHC will utilise knowledge and understanding of attachment theory;trauma informed care;infant development the impact of mental health problems on parenting and parent infant relationship and culturally sensitive practice in assessment care planning and delivery of care to consumers The PIMHC will provide specialist clinical mental health services to pregnant or parent consumers, and their infants in the perinatal period where a parent is presenting with complex mental health problems. The PIMHC provides leadership in the assessment and management of families in the perinatal period where a parent is presenting with complex mental health problems. Through the maintenance of high standards of professional ethics and clinical competence. The clinician also contributes to planning and implementation of specialist clinical education regarding assessment and care provision for families in the perinatal period where a parent is presenting with complex mental health problems. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply. Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria Tertiary qualification in a clinical health field, such as Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy. The Clinical Psychologist will be fully registered and hold a Masters degree or higher; the Registered Nurse requires a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience with an approved post graduate qualification and substantial relevant experience; and the Allied Health Professional will hold a relevant Bachelors degree and registration with a minimum experience at Level 2. Approved post registration tertiary qualification relevant to adult mental health, perinatal and infant mental health or extensive clinical practice in the field of mental health. Previous experience in working with parents and families with infants experiencing severe and complex parental psycho-social and psychiatric problems in the perinatal period with demonstrated knowledge of the impact of mental health problems and mental illness on parenting, parent – infant relationships and infant development.
