Job Overview
Join Southern Water as an Assistant Commercial Manager to support infrastructure projects that impact millions. You will help deliver commercial excellence across high-value contracts, managing risks, optimizing value, and ensuring compliance to deliver vital services to communities.
Responsibilities will include:
* Supporting cost management services, including appraisal, feasibility, cost planning, procurement, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
* Operating within a framework of commercial/cost management, control, and audit aligned with procurement best practices.
* Collaborating with Project Managers on contract strategies, creation, and documentation, using the Centre of Excellence for guidance.
* Ensuring alignment of commercial activities with quality management and audit processes, liaising with stakeholders.
* Supporting and conducting audits, site visits, and value-add activities.
* Recording and incorporating commercial and cost activities into budgets and costs.
* Assisting in setting target costs and fixed prices with Project Managers and contractors.
About You
We seek a candidate with a commercial mindset, analytical skills, and a collaborative approach. Ideally, you are working towards a Quantity Surveying degree or similar, with experience in commercial or cost management, preferably in utilities or infrastructure. Knowledge of NEC contracts, project lifecycles, and a proactive attitude are desirable. Ambitions for professional membership and strong communication skills will help you thrive.
Package
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with a hybrid working model.
