Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people’s and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.
Job overview
Are you an ace at Activities, excellent at promoting engagement and superb at supporting people with mental health needs? If so, we want you at Wedgwood! We are looking for a motivated Activity Worker who wants to champion recovery‑focussed, client‑centred care across both our adult and older people mental health inpatient services at Wedgwood House Bury St Edmunds. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team. We pride ourselves on working together to deliver high quality care and to support each other through any challenging times. We are focused on quality improvement led care delivery and are looking for energetic people who want to make a difference and be part of dynamic teams who like to think outside of the box. The activity worker role is an example of this and is seen as a way to support activity and engagement for those people admitted to hospital.
Main duties of the job
All of our wards benefit from a full multidisciplinary team that seeks to offer evidence‑based interventions to enhance recovery, reduce the length of admission, and enhance the person's mental health. The team will greatly value your unique perspective and contribution, and you will be given opportunity and support to champion this role. You will be based within the AHP therapy team and managed by an Occupational Therapist, however, you will be working autonomously to lead and facilitate a wide range of leisure 1‑1s or groups mainly on the ward, but also in the hospital grounds or local area on occasions. You will need to bring your interests, hobbies and passions to work within our team to deliver a wide range of meaningful activities. You will need to plan, risk‑assess, facilitate and record these interventions. You will be encouraged to work closely with the Occupational Therapist to reflect and evaluate these interventions. You will work alongside other activity workers and there may be a requirement to work some evenings and weekends.
