We integrate novel quantum photonic technology to form an efficient and scalable quantum networking infrastructure in partnership with world-leading companies and academic groups. The Role Nu Quantum is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to work on the development of our novel photonic quantum networking solutions. You will be working with a world-class team of scientists and engineers to design and develop cutting edge systems that will manipulate quantum information at high speed. If you are an experienced mechanical engineer and are open to taking on this challenge, we want to hear from you Responsibilities Design of product packages containing electronic, optical, and mechanical elements. Integration of optical devices into opto-mechanical assemblies. Physical housing and packaging design for electronic circuit assemblies. Productisation; including the mechanical design of the chassis, internal mechanical elements, and front panel interfaces. Creating user-friendly controls and interfaces. Supporting the manufacture of prototypes. Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience Relevant engineering or physics qualification is required. Industry experience in turning early-stage prototype electronic and/or optical setups into products required. Proven track record in conducting design reviews, establishing technical risk registers, and delivering project reporting to senior stakeholders. Proven experience managing external suppliers, building strong relationships. Experience working closely with optical, mechanical, software, and electronics specialists to ensure necessary requirements are met. Proficiency with 3D CAD modelling software required (Solidworks desirable). Significant experience making mechanical drawings/documentation for manufacture and awareness of manufacturing techniques required. Other (Desirable but not required) Expertise in designing for vibration, thermal management, and stress. Exposure with designing to meet safety, EMC, and other relevant standards. Experience with 3D printing using various materials. Representing their employer at conferences and tradeshows. Experience as a technical lead on projects that may include engineering disciplines outside their sphere of knowledge.
