About the Role
As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting the Commercial team in delivering high‑quality and cost‑effective housing developments. You will be involved in a wide range of tasks that will give you exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of a project.
Your Responsibilities
* Assisting in the preparation and distribution of tender packs to subcontractors and suppliers
* Chasing and collating subcontractor quotations
* Supporting general commercial administration tasks
* Maintaining and updating procurement trackers
* Assisting in the preparation of commercial reports for Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
* Supporting the team with document control and filing systems
* Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth commercial operations
Departmental Rotation
To provide a well‑rounded understanding of the commercial function, this role will also include structured rotations in the Buying Department and Estimating Department. During these rotations, you will:
* Gain insight into procurement strategies and supplier negotiations
* Assist in material scheduling and order placement
* Support the estimating team in preparing cost plans and feasibility studies
* Learn how early‑stage cost assessments influence project viability and design decisions
