NJC SCP 3, £24,796 (pro rata if working below 37 hours per week)
32 to 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Full year contract.
Are you practical, reliable, and passionate about making a difference in a school community? We are looking for a dedicated Caretaker to join our Trust, ideally working across both Stamford Bridge Primary and Melbourne Primary Schools. What You'll Do
* Maintain our school buildings and grounds to a high standard, ensuring a safe, clean, and secure environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
* Carry out minor repairs and maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc.).
* Monitor and report any major defects or issues.
* Ensure all systems (water, heating, lighting, alarms) are operational and carry out routine checks.
* Open and close the school premises daily, monitor security, and respond to alarms.
* Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Support cleaning staff and undertake emergency cleaning when needed.
* Manage waste disposal and recycling.
* Maintain outdoor areas, including playgrounds and green spaces.
* Set up rooms for events, receive deliveries, and liaise with contractors.
What We're Looking For
* Experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities roles.
* Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
Desirable (but Not Essential)
* Experience in a school or educational setting.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ in Facilities Management, Health & Safety).
* First Aid qualification.
* IT skills for training and internal communications.
