Overview
We are supporting a specialist engineering company in the marine and defence sector who are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong experience in high voltage (HV) and power electronics. The successful candidate will work on the design and integration of advanced electrical systems for next-generation submersible platforms, collaborating with in-house teams developing bespoke battery technology and wider propulsion/energy systems. This is a chance to work on highly unique projects in a role that spans concept, design, build, and validation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design, integration, and validation of HV electrical and power distribution systems.
* Develop and integrate power electronics (converters, inverters, distribution units).
* Support the design and optimisation of battery systems, ensuring reliable and safe integration.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, software, systems) to deliver complete solutions.
* Produce electrical documentation, schematics, calculations, and test reports.
* Provide technical support during testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning phases.
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven track record as an Electrical Engineer, ideally at senior level.
* Strong background in HV systems and power electronics.
* Experience with battery technology, energy storage, or propulsion systems.
* Ability to deliver across the full engineering lifecycle.
* Knowledge of relevant safety standards and compliance in electrical design.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Background in marine or defence environments.
* Familiarity with embedded controls, harness design, or thermal management.
* Understanding of system-level integration and electrical safety certification.
