Location: Greenslate Community Farm, Wigan
Contract: Full time 37.5hrs (some weekend and seasonal work required)

About Greenslate Community Farm
Greenslate Community Farm is a unique community led organisation combining sustainable farming, conservation, education, and wellbeing activities. We work with volunteers, learners, families, and partner organisations to create an inclusive, nature based environment that supports people, animals, and the land.
We are now seeking a proactive and organised Project Co-ordinator to oversee day to day operations, support staff and volunteers, and help drive the development of our farming, growing, educational, and community programmes.
Role Overview
The Project Co-ordinator is responsible for the coordination, management, and development of all farming, growing, educational, and community activities across the site. This includes supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, maintaining legislative compliance, and supporting the delivery of meaningful community and educational programmes.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a varied, hands on environment and is passionate about animal welfare, land management, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Project Management
• Coordinate and oversee all farming, growing, educational, and community activities on site.
• Report regularly to the Board of Directors on operational, educational, and farming activities.
• Produce reports, mapping, and documentation for the Board and external stakeholders.
• Manage budgets, monitor expenditure, and identify fundraising opportunities to support project development.
Animal Welfare & Land Management
• Ensure the welfare, health, and infrastructure needs of all farm animals are maintained to a high standard.
• Maintain accurate health and welfare records for all animals.
• Plan and implement safe animal rotation as part of effective land and pasture management.
• Coordinate animal health requirements, including liaison with veterinary professionals.
• Ensure essential supplies (feed, bedding, cleaning materials) are ordered and maintained.
Education & Community Engagement
• Plan, organise, and deliver events, programmes, children’s clubs, educational visits, and student placements.
• Act as a key point of contact for external customers, partner organisations, and stakeholders.
• Work closely with the Care Farm Co ordinator to integrate care farm activities within the wider farm environment.
Volunteer & Staff Coordination
• Manage and supervise Grower and Bank Staff employees and volunteers.
• Support volunteer recruitment, induction, and ongoing engagement.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for volunteers and learners.
Health, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, registrations, and Health & Safety requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure staff and volunteers receive appropriate Health & Safety training.
• Uphold high standards of site safety, animal welfare, and operational compliance.

Person Specification
Essential
• Experience in project coordination, land based work, community projects, or similar roles.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and support staff and volunteers.
• Understanding of animal welfare principles and land management.
• Ability to work flexibly, including some weekends and seasonal tasks.
• Confidence working with partner organisations, schools, and community groups.
• Commitment to Health & Safety and legislative compliance.
• Drivers licence
Desirable
• Experience in a community farm, care farm, or educational setting.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation (animal welfare, H&S, safeguarding, environmental).
• Experience delivering educational or community programmes.
• First Aid qualification.
• Experience with budgeting or fundraising.
