Job Title: Trainee Transport Planner
Menzies Distribution Solutions is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Wakefield as a Trainee Transport Planner. This role involves training in transport planning for a busy 3PL company, primarily working with Class 1 vehicles and utilizing various systems.
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate the delivery of customer products on time and in full, using cost-effective methods and optimal resource utilization, while ensuring compliance with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety standards. The role also focuses on maximizing fleet and driver utilization in line with current legislation.

* Salary: £29,000 Per Annum / £13.27 Per Hour
* Shift Pattern: 4 Days On / 4 Days Off
* Hours: 06:00-18:00

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plan customer deliveries using available software to meet delivery windows.
2. Liaise with drivers and customers regarding delays and issues.
3. Develop backhaul lanes and maintain fleet utilization.
4. Source local agency drivers and subcontractors as needed.
5. Complete late load reports and ensure safety standards for loads.
6. Manage drivers' schedules, start times, and conduct pre-briefings and de-briefings.
7. Ensure WTD compliance and analyze driver card data.
8. Adhere to transport legislation and reduce tachograph infringements.
9. Conduct team meetings, assessments, and interviews.
10. Record trailer information and manage administrative tasks related to shifts.
11. Understand and meet departmental KPIs and perform other transport-related duties.
Key Experience and Qualifications
* Experience in a busy transport office environment.
* Knowledge of drivers' hours, tachographs, and WTD legislation.
* Understanding of continuous improvement practices.
* Good educational background and IT literacy.
* Knowledge of health & safety and transport systems.
