We are looking for an experienced Regulatory Specialist to ensure compliance across UK and European markets for a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals.
This role focuses on product stewardship, regulatory risk management, and compliance with high standards of EU and UK chemical regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SDS topics (classification and authoring) and regulatory frameworks such as UK/EU REACH, CLP, and PIC.
This position requires autonomy, technical expertise, and collaboration with R&D, supply chain, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and support business activities.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Product Stewardship
* Ensure compliance with EU and UK chemical regulations, including:
* UK/EU REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction)
* GB/EU CLP (Classification, Labelling, and Packaging)
* Other relevant chemical safety and environmental laws.
* Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on products, supply chain, and operations.
* Advise internal teams on regulatory best practices, restrictions, and compliance requirements.
* Manage relationships with consulting firms, government agencies, and industry bodies.
SDS Authoring & Chemical Classification
* Develop, review, and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) according to UK, EU, and GHS standards.
* Ensure accurate chemical classification, hazard communication, and labeling compliance across jurisdictions.
* Maintain internal systems and databases for SDS management and compliance tracking.
* Prepare and submit Poison Centre Notification (PCN) dossiers under CLP Article 45.
* Ensure compliance with Member State reporting requirements.
* Advise logistics and supply chain teams on dangerous goods regulations for transportation.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
* Work with R&D teams on regulatory reviews for new materials and products.
* Support supply chain by working with vendors on regulatory documentation.
Your Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Toxicology, or similar, with at least 5 years of experience in chemical regulatory roles.
* Strong knowledge of GHS, REACH, and SDS standards in UK, EU, and international markets.
* Experience with regulatory filings for GB HSE and EU ECHA.
* Experience with regulatory software for SDS editing.
This role offers the chance to expand your regulatory experience to a European scope while overseeing compliance within the company's EU operations.
The position is flexible with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote work.
