ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER
Contract: 6 Months + Derby / Warrington
We are looking for experienced Assistant Project Managers to assist our client, a market leader within the Nuclear industry, involved in a cutting-edge project for a new type of Power Station.
The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for helping to achieve successful delivery of the project in terms of time, cost, and quality, through the application of project management experience within the Nuclear industry.
Assistant Project Manager Role
This role, reporting to a Programme Manager, will provide project management support to a dedicated project or programme of work. The projects and programme will have strong engineering, procurement, construction, and regulatory focus, related to the development of a new nuclear power station. The role involves managing specific projects and supporting the Programme Manager.
The role requires a level of project and programme management experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of projects.
* Keeping project plans updated with support from Project Planners.
* Managing financial forecasts with support from Cost Engineers.
* Working with internal stakeholders to understand performance and status of deliverables.
* Reporting performance and escalating issues to the Senior Project Manager.
* Creating a positive work environment within the project team and across functions.
* Documenting lessons learned and applying them to future work.
* Reviewing and managing project risks with actionable mitigations.
* Implementing improvements to processes and ways of working.
* Ensuring compliance with project management procedures.
* Supporting meetings with external stakeholders as required.
Experience and Skills
* Experience in project management, demonstrating breadth and depth of role.
* Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
* Understanding of risk, budget, and change management.
* Experience managing complex engineering projects (multi-year, multi-million £ projects).
* Experience developing schedules and budgets, monitoring performance.
* Skills in planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk, and change management.
* Good understanding of the SMR industry, including regulatory environment and trends.
* Technical knowledge of relevant engineering principles and practices.
* Knowledge of specific software/tools: Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, ARM, SAP, Excel, Power BI, Power Apps.
