Civil Engineering Apprentice (Level 6) – Regulated Water (Newcastle)
Location: Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom.
Apprenticeship level 6 – you will gain a UK Level 6 qualification with Northumbria University while working at Jacobs.
Responsibilities
The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team on high‑profile water projects, delivering technical designs and solutions for:
- Design of water treatment plants, pumping stations and distribution networks to supply drinking water
- Design of wastewater treatment plants and drainage network assets to improve the quality of rivers
- Design of pressure and gravity pipelines
- Design of site layouts for diverse markets such as water, datacentres and energy and power
- Preparation of feasibility studies for new water and wastewater assets, including regional transfer projects
You will also support project delivery within agreed timeframes and budgets.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points, including Grade B in A‑level Mathematics or equivalent
- A keen interest in civil engineering and regulated water management
- Strong communication and team‑working skills
- A flexible, proactive self‑starter passionate about learning
- Ability to adapt, prioritise and balance work and study commitments
- Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply skills to real‑world problems
- Empathy and listening skills to understand client requirements
- Well‑rounded experiences that demonstrate leadership or community involvement
- Permanent right to work in the UK
