Community Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Specialist

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse Specialist to join the award winning, innovative North Yorkshire Community Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT). The team is dynamic with a proactive approach to infection prevention and control. The post holder will be actively involved in producing high quality IPC resources working closely with the Education Resource Specialist. The team are market leaders in producing IPC policies, posters and educational workbooks for care homes, GP practices and domiciliary care.
The post will include collaborative working with colleagues in IPC, UKHSA, ICB and Local Authorities.
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Main duties of the job
* Produce high quality IPC resources such as workbooks, posters, and policies, working closely with the Education Resource Specialist.
* Provide advisory and clinical input to facilitate and continuously improve quality infection prevention and control care for patients in the community.
* Contribute to marketing meetings with the team.
Provide specialist clinical advice, support and counselling for patients, relatives and the general public on community infection prevention and control issues.
Provide advice on infection prevention and control practices including outbreak management.
Investigate outbreaks of healthcare associated infection, with particular reference to their source and mode of spread.
Provide nursing advice to patients with alert organisms such as C. difficile, PVL and MRSA.
Use assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation skills to provide individualised care.
Establish effective partnerships with patients and their families and act as the patient’s advocate to ensure their needs are met appropriately.
Provide advice on individualised patient care based upon the principles of evidence-based practice.
Recognise, investigate and take the necessary action to resolve HCAI issues.

Person specification
* Level 1 Registered Nurse.
* First level Degree / Diploma in Nursing.
* A recognised Infection Prevention and Control qualification e.g. PG certificate, degree module, ENB 329.
* A recognised Teaching Qualification.
* Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
* Experience working as an IPC Nurse Specialist.
* Certification in education.
* Experience of working as an IPC Nurse Specialist in the community.
* Community nursing experience.
* Experience of using innovative education platforms, e.g. Mentimeter, when delivering education.

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum pro rata.
