Job Description
The Benefits/Rents Officer is responsible, through the Senior Benefits Officer, for verifying information, assessing, and awarding Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Scottish Welfare Fund payments in accordance with government legislation, case law, and Council policy. The role also involves assisting in administering and accounting for rent and service charges related to Council House and Garage tenants.

Requirements
* The grade of this post is H.
* The salary shown in the advert includes Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro-rata).
* This is a permanent full-time post for 37.0 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year.
* Preferred candidates will be required to undertake a Standard Disclosure check prior to a formal offer of employment.
* No relocation package is available for this post.
* Interview expenses will be paid from within Shetland.
* We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
