The Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI) has become the hub at the centre of the sustainable and ethical finance movement. We undertake advocacy through curating independent conversations among a broad coalition of financial services stakeholders, as well as research, advisory work and delivering practical projects. We are the partner for action on ethical finance.


From our Edinburgh base we are a non-profit with a global footprint. We are supported by several major financial institutions including Lloyds Banking Group, HSBC. We also work in partnership with global multilaterals such as the United Nations. Our wider organisation and select programme partnerships include the Islamic Finance Council UK and SDG Tartan.


Role Description

With sustainable and ethical finance moving from the niche to the norm the level of interest in our work has grown considerably. To meet short-term demand, we are now expanding our team and have an exciting opportunity for a Project Analyst to join us for an initial 12-month period. Working alongside the team, this is a one-of-kind opportunity for a recent graduate looking for a hands-on role in a purpose-driven organisation.


The successful candidate will support the leadership team to deliver GEFI’s programmes and thought leadership requirements during an exciting period of growth and development. The role will provide an unparalleled opportunity to work with well-respected ethical finance practitioners and develop subject matter expertise in climate and nature finance.


Every day will be different and, as well as supporting GEFI’s wider programme for 2026, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the planning of Ethical Finance Global 2026, Path to COP campaign, and managing GEFI’s thought leadership strategy, reporting directly to programme leads.

Your Profile and Responsibilities

Supporting in the planning of GEFI flagship annual summit programme (Ethical Finance Global 2026 and SDG Hive)

* Assisting with the acquisition and onboarding of speakers (e.g. researching and identifying prospective speakers, finding email addresses, and preparing tailored invitation letters and emails)
* Marketing support (incl. creating design assets, social media posts, blogs and mailer content)
* Registration tracking
* Logistical support (accommodation, catering, AV etc)
* VIP itinerary preparation
* Partner exhibition stand coordination
* Front of house (incl. VIP and delegate registration)
* Notetaking and session write-ups
* Ad hoc research (on speakers, topics etc)
* Assisting in the development of the SDG Hive programme of private sessions


Supporting GEFI's Path to COP Campaign

* Tracking COP31 Presidency and UNFCCC activities related to Path to COP themes
* Contributing towards Path to COP Technical Briefings
* Presenting at Path to COP Stakeholder Meetings


Manage, with input from colleagues, the GEFI Insight Series that will spotlight climate (COP31), nature (COP17), and social finance themes. Indicative tasks include:

* Working with the design team to develop the brand, website and associated digital marketing materials
* Supporting the onboarding of content partners
* Building out the product template (e.g. blog format / style, social media outputs, LinkedIn Live and newsletter)
* Developing the content plan for the year
* Planning and delivering the Series launch webinar


Other

* Providing regular content for GEFI X and LinkedIn posts
* Providing additional support, as business demand requires, to broader GEFI projects and initiatives


What Are We Looking for?

You will be accurate, flexible, and responsive; hard working, organised, enthusiastic and able to juggle multiple priorities. You will feel confident working alone as well as part of a wider team and be capable of learning quickly and tackling challenges with energy and commitment. You will be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.


We are looking for someone who has a demonstrated the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally. Methodical and organised, you can work with attention to detail and you should be comfortable taking ownership of your own day-to-day tasks and prioritising your workload in a small but busy team.

Your Skills and Qualifications

* Honours degree in a relevant field
* A high standard of literacy and numeracy
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to develop, manage and build relationships with colleagues and external partners
* Ability to multi-task, with excellent time management skills to deal with complex and conflicting priorities
* Ability to deliver under pressure and work to targets and tight deadlines
* Strong attention to detail with the capability to develop / follow processes and procedures to maximise efficiency
* Ability to work independently on own initiative and/or part of a team
* Comfortable in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), video conferencing platforms (MS Teams and Zoom) and social media platforms (X and LinkedIn)
* Working knowledge of WordPress and Mailchimp
* Desire and willingness to explore and engage with AI-driven business solutions to enhance project outcomes
* A genuine passion and authentic commitment to the social purpose underpinning GEFI


Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK to be eligible for employment.


In return, we will offer:

* Temporary contract*
* Full Time (9am to 5.30pm)
* £22,000 p/a (pro-rata)*
* Home-based with occasional in-person meetings


*Depending on performance, the GEFI work programme and budgets, there is the potential for the successful candidate to be offered a 12 month contract with a £26,000 p/a (pro-rata) salary.
