About the Role
You will be employed as a Research Nurse, working across Oxford Critical Care and the Neurosciences ICU, with day‑to‑day responsibility for a portfolio of studies and study participants. As required you will plan, schedule, conduct interventions, recruit and retain participants, manage data and provide nursing care.
Fulfil the expectations and capabilities as delegated by the Sponsor, Chief Investigator or Principal Investigator as set out in GCP & Research Governance Framework.
Work collaboratively with OUH and external research and service delivery colleagues to ensure high quality participant care.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care during participation in clinical research visits.
* Manage workload and coordinate allocated clinical trials and research studies.
* Provide care for clinical trial participants during research visits in compliance with professional conduct.
* Use effective communication skills to support participants in decision making regarding clinical trial and study entry.
* Communicate with internal and external colleagues verbally, non‑verbally and in written form, including thorough accurate documentation in patient records.
* Competently perform a range of clinical procedures required by the research protocol, ensuring accurate data capture.
* Participate in and ensure compliance with informed consent procedures, acting within the boundaries of own competency, research regulation and Trust policies/SOPs.
* Use professional judgment to identify when to seek senior support or guidance.
Requirements
* Registered Nurse, with recent critical care or research experience.
* Significant experience and expertise within the speciality of the recruiting area for the research nurse role.
* Ability to work with a high level of attention to detail.
* Phlebotomy and cannulation skills.
* Organised and able to prioritise own workload.
* Appropriate UK professional registration.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of working in a clinical research environment in the NHS.
* Good Clinical Practice training.
* Knowledge of NHS research governance and policy.
