Root2growth is looking for an experienced, technically strong ACA or ACCA qualified accountant to take operational leadership of our growing, cloud-based practice.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who wants genuine responsibility and autonomy — without partnership politics, excessive hours, or long commutes.

The Role
This is a pivotal leadership role within the practice.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operational and technical leadership of the firm.
You will combine technical authority, team leadership, and operational oversight — while maintaining a small client portfolio if desired.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership
Acting as the primary technical support for the team
Reviewing statutory accounts, corporation tax and personal tax work
Supporting with complex accounting and tax queries
Maintaining high technical standards across the practice
Keeping the team up to date with legislative changes
Team & Operational Management
Managing team workload and capacity planning
Leading weekly team meetings
Supporting the development and mentoring of staff
Overseeing workflow and ensuring deadlines are met
Driving continuous process improvement
Compliance & Quality Control
Managing AML compliance and file reviews
Ensuring regulatory compliance (ACCA/ICAEW standards)
Overseeing CPD across the team
Maintaining engagement and quality control processes
Client Relationship Oversight
Acting as an escalation point for client matters
Supporting fee reviews and service development
Option to retain 1–2 clients personally
Strategic & Commercial Contribution
Supporting the ongoing growth and development of the practice
Contributing to pricing and service development decisions
Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and technology use
What We're Looking For
ACA or ACCA qualified
Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in practice
Strong accounts and tax technical knowledge
Experience reviewing work and managing staff
A calm, solutions-focused leadership style
Commercial awareness and good judgement
Someone who enjoys improving systems and processes
