Grasmere Farm is seeking an experienced and proactive Butcher to join our skilled team at our purpose-built butchery unit near Deeping St James. We're a family-run business with a proud reputation for high-welfare, award-winning pork and traditional butchery — and we're looking for someone who shares our passion for quality, precision, and teamwork.
As a key member of our production team, you'll be involved in every aspect of butchery — from full carcass breakdown to portion control cutting, bacon slicing, sausage making, and preparing meat for both pre-pack and further retail. An eye for detail, speed, and pride in your craft are essential, as is a flexible, "can-do" attitude and willingness to support your teammates across the operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Full carcass breakdown (predominantly pork)
* Portion control cutting for retail and catering
* Preparing meat for sausages and pre-pack
* Bacon slicing and sausage making
* Assisting with order assembly when required
* Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
About You
* Fully trained butcher with solid experience in carcass butchery
* Reliable, proactive, and team-oriented
* Fast and accurate worker with an excellent eye for detail
* Flexible and willing to help in all areas of the butchery
* Own transport required (rural location)
Training will be provided for specific equipment, such as slicers.
