Receptionist / Clerical Assistant
Hours of Posts: 17 hours and 40 minutes per week
Working Hours: Monday & Wednesday 8:20am to 3:30pm & Tuesday 8:20 to 1pm
Contract Type: Fixed term till 31st March 2026 (in the first instance), Term Time only
Salary Grade: Payscale 2, points 3 to 4 - £24,027 - £24,404 FTE
(the salary will be pro rata to part time and term time hours)

The Executive Headteacher and Governors would like to appoint a receptionist/clerical assistant to join our warm and friendly Nursery School. Our school is very popular and we have excellent relationships with parents and the community.
You will be working in our very busy office, under the direction of the School Business Manager, Finance Manager and Executive Headteacher. Our Executive Headteacher and School Business Manager work over 2 sites i.e. Freshfield Nursery School and Tithe Barn Primary School. You may be required to be flexible and work across both sites occasionally.
Here at Freshfield we work very closely as a team and the person we appoint will be expected to work flexibly to support the staff with their records and resources when required.
As the first point of contact for our school, we desire to appoint somebody who fits in with our inclusive philosophy, where the needs of all are met in the most welcoming manner. A good telephone manner is essential together with good knowledge of Microsoft packages/IT skills e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel, Gmail and Google Forms.
Other duties would include:
Using SIMS to record and update pupil’s and families’ details together with responsibility for recording and maintaining records for pupil attendance. Training in SIMS software would be arranged.
Recording accurately allocation of new admissions and corresponding with parents by phone and email.
Taking bookings for our popular After School Clubs/Breakfast Clubs.
Answering the telephone and door enquiries.
Maintaining the school Google diary.
Unpacking deliveries.
Providing refreshments for visitors.
Collating and sending information to parents whilst keeping offices and stock tidy.
Training would be arranged for using our parent communication system Parentmail and Tapestry, children’s online learning journals. This would include enrolling new parents and pupil onto these systems.
We pride ourselves on the continuous professional development of all our team.
Some knowledge of SIMS would be an advantage but training will be available.
The hours of work are strictly MONDAY, WEDNESDAY 8.20 AM TO 3.30 PM AND
TUESDAY 8.20 AM TO 1 PM. Willingness to work occasional overtime would be desirable.
