Management Accountant

We’re looking for a driven and detail-focused Management Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and robust controls across the business.
This is a hands-on role with real influence. You’ll support strategic decision-making through high-quality financial models, budgets, and forecasts, while also helping to improve and automate financial processes. If you enjoy combining technical accounting with problem-solving and continuous improvement, this role offers excellent scope to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare, analyse, and present accurate financial statements, budgets, and forecasts in line with accounting standards and company policies
2. Develop and maintain financial models and reports (primarily in Excel) to support business planning and strategic decisions
3. Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensuring robust and reliable financial projections
4. Ensure strong financial controls and compliance, including ledger management, fixed assets, inventory, accruals, prepayments, VAT returns, and bank reconciliations
5. Provide insightful financial analysis, highlighting trends, variances, and risks to senior stakeholders
6. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met
7. Contribute to cost control initiatives and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
8. Complete intercompany transactions (GBP and EUR)
9. Identify and drive process improvements and automation within finance systems and reporting
What we’re looking for
Essential skills and experience:
10. Strong management accounting knowledge, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
11. Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, financial modelling)
12. Proven ability to analyse financial data and translate it into clear insights
13. Solid understanding of financial controls, accounting standards, and compliance
14. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
15. Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
Desirable:
16. Working towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or AAT completed)
17. Experience in SMEs or organisations with revenues of £50m+
18. Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI
19. Experience within construction or project-based environments
