Overview

An exciting opportunity for a number of Band 6 Specialist Practitioners to join the Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team to support service development. We are a 24/7 Crisis and Home Based Treatment service for adults 18-64 in Hull and East Riding, providing crisis assessment and Home Based Treatment Interventions, gatekeeping for inpatient admissions, and management of the section 136/Mental Health Based Place of Safety pathway. Our work is diverse, fast paced and clinically rich, developed in partnership with Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Humberside Police, and primary, secondary and voluntary care providers, and with families and carers.

We are seeking professionals with Mental Health Nursing, Learning Disabilities Nursing, or Social Work registration (with Mental Health experience) who are keen to lead on innovation, develop robust care pathways and enhance patient and carer experience. The role may involve leading on crisis assessments and providing expert clinical advice and leadership on shift.


Responsibilities

* Assess Service Users in crisis and lead crisis assessments and onward referrals to appropriate teams.
* Plan interventions and deliver a range of acute crisis interventions; review care and discharge planning.
* Work within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to maintain quality standards and patient safety within clinical governance frameworks.
* Act as shift coordinator when designated; supervise junior staff and support ongoing development of the team.
* Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm with experience in complex needs and enduring mental illness; prioritise and delegate effectively; provide expert clinical advice and leadership on shift.
* Work patterns include days, evenings, weekends, nights and bank holidays in a 24/7 service.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

* Professional registration in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work (with Mental Health experience) or Learning Disabilities Nursing.
* Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation and their application to clinical and service areas (e.g., Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion) and clinical practice/standards/audit.
* Demonstrable experience mentoring pre-registration students.
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level; experience developing specialist practice and impact on practice change.
* Experience promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation.

Desirable:

* Evidence of project work that has impacted practice and demonstrates communication/planning/change within own area.
* Leadership training/qualification/experience; leadership/management experience with positive service change.
* Demonstrable experience of working in the specific field of the post; ability to lead and motivate staff to embrace change.


Skills and Competencies

* Effective interpersonal skills; experience supervising and mentoring; able to work within the Working Time Directive and improve working lives.
* Strong ethical values and commitment to equality and diversity.
* Ability to lead and motivate staff and to understand Trust policies and procedures to effectively lead and manage others.


Additional Information

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service. UK registration is required.
