A well-established precision engineering business is looking to recruit an experienced Honing Operator to join their workshop team. The role involves setting and operating a variety of honing machinery, ensuring components are machined to high standards of quality, safety and accuracy.
This an afternoon shift.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate a range of honing equipment to produce precision components
* Handle parts safely, including loading and unloading during the machining process
* Inspect finished components against engineering drawings using appropriate measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, gauges, CMM/Faro where applicable)
* Prepare machines for production, including tooling selection, stone choice and work holding setup
* Carry out basic maintenance and upkeep of tooling and machinery
* Work in line with health & safety procedures and workshop standards at all times
* Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency within the production process
* Support general machining and workshop activities when required
The Candidate:
Previous experience in honing, grinding or a similar precision machining environment
Engineering qualification (advantageous but not essential)
Ability to work to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
Confident using inspection and measurement tools
Able to manage workload and meet production deadlines
Reliable, hands-on and a strong team player
Salary:
£30,000 – £37,500 per annum, depending on experience
