Part-Time Finance Assistant (Temporary - 9 to 12 Months) based in Coventry
Working Hours: 5 hours per day, Monday to Friday (25 hours per week)

Job Summary
We are looking for a diligent and proactive Finance Assistant to join a finance team on a temporary basis to provide maternity cover for approximately 9 to 12 months. This part-time role will support the finance department in managing day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and maintaining key financial processes. Its an ideal opportunity for someone with solid finance experience seeking flexible working hours.
Key Responsibilities
* Bank Reconciliation
o Carry out regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
o Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank records and accounting systems.
o Monitor cash balances and flag any irregularities promptly.
* Purchase Ledger
o Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and staff expenses accurately and promptly.
o Match purchase invoices with POs and delivery notes.
o Ensure timely payment runs and manage supplier queries professionally.
* Petty Cash Management
o Record and track petty cash transactions.
o Maintain petty cash log, collect receipts, and reconcile balances regularly.
o Conduct periodic petty cash audits in line with company policy.
* Debits and Credits
o Apply sound knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping.
o Post financial transactions using the correct debit and credit entries.
o Support accurate month-end and year-end account closures.
Requirements
* Solid knowledge of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping.
* Hands-on experience with bank reconciliation, purchase ledger, and petty cash.
* Strong attention to detail and good numeracy skills.
* Ability to manage time independently and prioritise tasks effectively
