Tripod Partners is currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Employee Relations Manager to join one of our valued NHS clients.
This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment, is confident managing sensitive issues, and has a strong background in NHS policies, employment law, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Case Oversight
* Line manage and develop Senior ER Advisors, promoting continuous learning and performance development
* Allocate casework efficiently to ensure swift and compassionate resolution
* Ensure high-quality outcomes and timely updates on the ER case management system
* Coordinate the team’s office rota and ensure adequate cover at all times
Policy & Service Development
* Lead on writing and revising employment policies in line with NHS terms, employment law, and best practice
* Develop and maintain toolkits, templates, and guidance for staff and managers
* Oversee the Employee Relations intranet hub, ensuring up-to-date resources
* Deliver specialist training sessions for managers on HR policies and ER processes
* Promote a culture of fairness and compassion across the Trust
Data & Reporting
* Analyse ER data to identify trends and areas for improvement
* Support the Head of ER in delivering KPI reports, FOI requests, and board-level insights
* Monitor and address trends related to diversity and inclusion (e.g., gender, ethnicity, age)
Strategic Projects & Advisory
* Lead and support strategic projects within the ER function
* Provide expert advice on formal processes including investigations, hearings, appeals, and tribunals
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior managers, HRBPs, and trade union reps
* Deputise for the Head of ER as needed
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in a senior ER or HR Manger roles within the NHS
* Strong knowledge of employment law, NHS policies, and best HR practices
* Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
* Comfortable working with sensitive and complex casework
* Able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
* Committed to continuous professional development and high standards
