Overview
The Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship provides fully funded training, a nationally recognised qualification, and a salary while you learn.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants must meet all apprenticeship eligibility criteria, including:
* Four GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4–9 / A–C* in English Language, Maths, and Science.
* These must be clearly listed on the application form; those who do not meet the criteria will not be shortlisted.
* Candidates who already hold a Level 3 (or higher) Pharmacy qualification are not eligible for apprenticeship funding.
Responsibilities
* Labelling, dispensing, and accuracy checking a variety of prescriptions using our electronic prescribing system.
* Learning how different medicines work and what they are used to treat.
* Ordering, receiving and maintaining pharmaceutical stock.
* Providing excellent customer care and maintaining confidentiality while dealing with patients, staff and the public.
* Counselling patients on how to use their medicines safely.
* Working directly with patients on wards and in clinics to ensure safe medicines use both while in hospital and on discharge.
* Completing patient medication histories onwards.
Working Conditions
This role requires working evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. You’ll need to complete around 10–15 hours of home study each week alongside your job. Good communication, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines are essential.
Visa Sponsorship
This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract.
