Operational Researcher – Analytical Modelling & Forecasting Duration: Approx. 100 working days (Full-time) | November 2025 – March 2026 Location: UK-based (work on secure government-issued devices) Security Clearance: SC required Role Purpose We are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to provide specialist analytical surge support for a high-priority government pilot project. The work will focus on modelling and forecasting within a new asylum system route, contributing to strategic objectives such as: Reducing temporary accommodation use, Cutting case backlogs, and Supporting measures to reduce irregular migration.Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and adapt Python-based analytical models. Build simulation models to evaluate case flow and decision-making processes. Integrate models with secure data environments (e.g., LakeFS) for real-data simulations. Design and deliver interactive dashboards (e.g., Plotly Dash or Power BI) for scenario comparison and policy impact analysis. Conduct scenario analyses and produce regular reports for stakeholders. Ensure compliance with analytical quality assurance (AQA) and documentation standards. Support knowledge transfer through documentation, coaching, and technical handover at project close.Essential Skills & Experience Strong Python programming skills, including Git version control. Advanced Excel for analytical purposes (non-VBA). Proven experience in simulation modelling and forecasting. Ability to build and manage analytical pipelines. Expertise in data visualisation and dashboard development (Plotly Dash preferred). Ability to work in fast-paced, reactive environments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Desirable Skills SQL experience. Background in policy analytics, asylum modelling, or government data environments
