ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a highly organised and detail focused Payroll and Pensions Officer to join our Finance team at Oldham College. This role is responsible for delivering an accurate and professional payroll and pensions service, ensuring staff are paid correctly and on time while maintaining compliance with current legislation and pension regulations.
You will play a key role in managing payroll processing, pension administration, reporting, and supporting colleagues with payroll related queries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong payroll experience who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and delivering exceptional customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In this role you will:
Process the monthly payroll accurately and within agreed timescales, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, and statutory payments
Administer Teachers' Pension Scheme and Local Government Pension Scheme processes, including monthly submissions and auto enrolment requirements
Produce payroll reports, management information, and year end returns including P60s and P11Ds
Act as the first point of contact for payroll and pension related queries from colleagues and external agencies
Maintain accurate payroll and pension records while ensuring compliance with HMRC, pension, and employment legislation
Carry out duties in line with College policies and procedures, including safeguarding and equality commitments
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
Minimum A levels or equivalent. (Maths L3 or above)
Significant payroll and pensions administration experience, including year end pension submissions
Experience using payroll and HR systems, ideally iTrent
Strong Excel skills, including the use of formulas and V-Lookups
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential information accurately
Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
