Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work within the new CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service for Durham and Darlington.
The post holder should be motivated by the opportunity to work with the multidisciplinary team to develop new ways of working and enhance service provision. The Assessment Service is part of a wider Neurodevelopmental Pathway which is a partnership between CAMHS, Local Authority and Education.
The post holder will attend multi-professional panels to discuss referrals into the pathway and identify needs of the young person/family. They will provide SLT assessments in relation to Neurodevelopmental Disorders as well as take part in other standardised assessments for Autism and/or ADHD.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be expected to carry out clinical work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist assessment to children and young people between 0-18 years.
About us
The post holder will have access to regular line management supervision with senior colleagues, clinical supervision with the Clinical Lead SLT for CAMHS in Durham and Darlington and will be expected to attend regular SLT staff meetings, peer supervisions and evidence-based practice events.
The SLT service is committed to continued personal and professional development via annual appraisals and the development of individual job plans.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Appropriate professional qualification in Speech and LanguageTherapy role
* Current relevant registration with specific regulatory body
* Post graduate training in relevant specialist area
Experience
* Minimum 12 months post qualifying experience of Speech and Language Therapy delivery
* Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
* Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team
Knowledge
* Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
* Clinical risk assessment and application in practice
* Knowledge of evidence-based practice in designated specialist area
* Post graduate training in specialist area if applicable to post (e.g. dysphagia, autism diagnostics)
* Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
* Experience of managing complex Speech and Language Therapy cases
* Awareness of professional standards and its application to practice
