About the Multi Skilled Engineer job
This is a hands-on, technical role where your engineering ability makes an impact from day one. You'll split your focus between reactive breakdown response and planned preventative maintenance, with real input into performance reviews and continuous improvement. Fault find. Fix fast. Make it better. That’s the heartbeat of this job.
You’ll work closely with production, technical, and leadership teams, taking ownership of engineering issues and being a key part of the site’s performance review rhythm—daily, weekly, and ongoing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide expert support on reactive maintenance across all production lines
2. Deliver routine and preventative maintenance to maximise equipment uptime
3. Use CMMS to accurately log work, parts used, and maintenance records
4. Attend daily/weekly performance reviews to track line performance and propose solutions
5. Collaborate with other departments to resolve root cause issues—not just the symptoms
6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety
7. Support junior engineers or apprentices with development and training
8. Ensure all work complies with H&S, food safety, and engineering standards
What We’re Looking For
9. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical AND Electrical Engineering is essential
10. Experience in food manufacturing is ideal, but not essential
11. Strong fault-finding capability – electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic
12. Hands-on experience with PLC systems, automation, and packaging equipment
13. Experience using CMMS software to manage tasks and maintenance data
14. A strong communicator – able to work well with other departments and contractors
15. A flexible, proactive, and can-do approach to problem-solving and shift work
16. IOSH or similar H&S qualifications are a bonus
