Location: Downham Market, Norfolk
Pay: £15 per hour

About the Role
A care home in Downham Market is seeking an experienced Chef to plan and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. You will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, stock control, and maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.
This is a hands-on role requiring creativity, strong organisational skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a small kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and prepare daily menus that meet residents nutritional needs and preferences
* Produce meals that are appetising, visually appealing, and cost-effective
* Monitor food stock levels and order supplies as required
* Maintain accurate records of food orders and inventory
* Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served safely and hygienically
* Train and supervise kitchen staff
* Implement and maintain health and safety procedures, including food handling standards
* Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, including regular deep cleaning
* Build positive relationships with residents and respond to feedback
Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality setting
* Strong cooking skills and knowledge of various techniques
* Understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements
* Knowledge of food safety and health & safety regulations
* Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure
* Experience supervising or training kitchen staff
* Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays
Qualifications
* Food Hygiene Level 2 (willing to work towards higher qualification)
* First Aid Certified
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation/Catering
