We seek a Test Engineer to join our digital community, driving transformation of government services using innovative, scalable, and user-centric digital solutions used by nearly every UK citizen.
In this role, you will ensure the applications behind key citizen services are reliable and robust, adopting a risk-based testing approach and building automated solutions to enhance speed and quality.
You will test functionality, performance, accessibility, and business logic, working closely with engineers and teams throughout the development lifecycle. You will also have opportunities to challenge existing practices, suggest new tools, and refine testing methodologies to improve user experience and team outcomes.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Solid skills in Java or JavaScript, especially for testing and test engineering.
* Experience building and maintaining reliable automated tests and frameworks for UI and APIs.
* Understanding of the full testing lifecycle, including writing tests, reporting, and bug management.
* Ability to work effectively in agile environments, familiar with CI/CD and shift-left testing practices.
* Basic knowledge of non-functional testing such as performance, security, and accessibility, including relevant tools and standards.
Location and Benefits:
Work in one of our digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, or Sheffield, with a hybrid model (about 40% in-office, 60% remote).
