Registered Homes Manager & Deputy Manager
Eligibility: NVQ Level 3 Working with Young People (essential). NVQ5 to be completed within agreed timescales.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure effective leadership of the home when on duty, organizing and managing it to deliver the best possible child care.
2. Maintain a high standard of care and support for each child, ensuring all practices meet current legislation and regulatory expectations.
3. Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in accordance with the Home’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Individual Care Plans.
4. Maintain appropriate boundaries within the household and ensure safe interactions between children and others, both in person and online, following the Management of Behaviour Policy.
5. Establish warm, caring, and professional relationships with children in care, employing the PACE approach to address trauma.
6. Model appropriate personal behaviour, setting a suitable example for children.
7. Promote and ensure the general health, safety, and welfare of staff and children, uphold the Health and Safety Policy, and contribute to risk assessment.
8. Ensure all medical needs of children are met and routine appointments are maintained.
9. Follow legislation regarding handling, recording, safekeeping, administering, and disposing of medication.
10. Maintain liaisons with parents/guardians and external agencies.
11. Attend staff and young people meetings as directed by management.
12. Assist with operational and management budgets for residential life with team leaders.
13. Take a full role in the induction, supervision, training, and appraisal of care staff, promoting safe practices.
14. Provide oversight and support to Key Workers, ensuring effective planning around family time, events, religious beliefs, appointments, educational reviews, and hobbies.
15. Participate in recruiting and selecting care team members, hosting visits, and providing feedback to management.
16. Collaborate with management and teaching instructors on Behaviour Management policy and guidance.
17. Maintain detailed records and logs, involving children in safety planning and goal setting.
18. Prepare and review Placement Plans for each child, ensuring regulatory compliance and representing the Home at reviews.
19. Cover the role of Deputy Homes Manager as needed, following management direction.
20. Undertake additional duties of comparable nature as determined by management.
21. Adhere at all times to GSCC Codes of Practice.
Training and Development
1. Participate in induction, supervision, training, and development activities.
2. Complete all required training and qualifications, focusing on trauma impacts and harmful sexual behaviour models.
3. Remain open to evaluating and reviewing personal methods of care.
Buildings, Equipment and Facilities
1. Safeguard and maintain building fabric to high standards.
2. Ensure equipment is used safely and stored appropriately.
3. Report faults and necessary repairs promptly.
4. Participate in personal appraisal arrangements.
5. Take an active role in staff appraisal processes, reviewing every six months to support development.
