Overview
Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry role at Islet Systems, based in Exeter West CMHT & Place of Safety (Wonford House Hospital). Full-time post supporting patients aged 18-65, with part-time/job-share options welcome. Exeter location with private office, IT access and dedicated secretarial support. Hybrid/remote working available with mentorship and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients managed by the Exeter West CMHT and related clinical services, providing leadership to the CMHT and ensuring patient-centered care flows across the Trust.
* Provide Responsible Clinician cover for the Devon-wide Place of Safety (POS) for detained patients awaiting bed allocation, including initial assessments, treatment planning, and Mental Health Act responsibilities (e.g., section 17 leave).
* Participate in on-call rotas; cross-cover by other consultants as needed for leave.
Qualifications
* Essential: Full General Medical Council registration; Approved Clinician status at start; Eligible for Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT; Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Desirable: MRCPsych; other professional qualifications; CCT in General Psychiatry.
Experience & Aptitudes
* Experience in Community Mental Health Team settings and psychiatric practice across community and other settings.
* Evidence of leadership within a multidisciplinary team and ability to collaborate with other clinical teams.
* Commitment to continuing professional development and to multidisciplinary and multi-agency working; strong communication and teaching/supervision skills.

* Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per year
