What will the role involve?
As our new Regulatory Lawyer, you’ll:
* Provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to support proportionate, risk-based regulation.
* Manage and present disciplinary and appeal cases before Regulatory Tribunal panels.
* Draft high-quality instructions and briefs for external Counsel and liaise to ensure effective case preparation.
* Research and apply developments in case law and regulatory standards to strengthen case outcomes.
* Negotiate outcomes where appropriate, ensuring proportionality and fairness.
* Deliver training to colleagues on legal and regulatory issues, sharing insight and best practice.
* Manage a personal caseload, progressing cases efficiently and to the highest standard.
* Contribute to quality assurance processes, identifying lessons learned and embedding improvements.
Who are we looking for?
You’ll bring a mix of legal expertise, regulatory knowledge, and strong advocacy skills. Specifically:
* Qualified solicitor or barrister (England & Wales).
* Advocacy experience before tribunals, courts, or adjudicatory bodies.
* Experience in disciplinary or regulatory casework, ideally within a professional regulator or public body.
* Knowledge of civil and/or criminal procedure relevant to regulatory work.
* Excellent drafting and case management skills, with the ability to handle complex matters.
* Strong communication and persuasion skills — both in writing and in person.
* A collaborative, team-focused approach with sound judgment and independence.
* Ability to deliver against KPIs and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
