About the Role
We are looking for a Progression Pathways Engagement and Progression Officer, based at our St Austell campus, to play a key role in ensuring a high-quality learner experience within Progression Pathways. This role supports students from their initial application and interview stage through to successful progression into further education, training, or employment. The post-holder will enhance the student journey by providing pastoral care, safeguarding support, and promoting both the physical and mental well-being of learners.
Working closely with learners on campus, they will act as the first point of contact for welfare issues, offer initial safeguarding and pastoral interventions, and liaise with parents and external agencies where required. They will also deliver enrichment and personal development activities, encourage positive behaviour, support community and social events, and promote learner voice and engagement in college life.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Maths, alongside current Level 2 Safeguarding and Prevent training. Ideally, they will also bring additional qualifications such as Level 3 Multi-Agency training, Safeguarding Adults, or a relevant discipline in Youth Work, Sports/Recreation, or Advice and Guidance. They will be confident in the use of IT, including college systems and Office 365, with desirable skills including a strong knowledge of Safeguarding and Prevent processes and, ideally, a licence to drive a minibus. With a proven track record of supporting or mentoring young people aged 14-25, as well as experience of supporting adults, the candidate may also bring wider experience in supervising learners, undertaking safeguarding interventions, working with external agencies, understanding mental health issues, and offering information, advice, guidance, and welfare support.
