Job Description
The electrical department is responsible for electrical architecture, systems design and electrical component delivery, design, release and approval of body electronics components and systems.
Specific tasks include:
* Engineering:
o Ensure components are designed and engineered robustly using standard engineering toolsets.
o Support pre-production builds, ensuring build concerns are contained and resolved in the required timeframe.
o Define requirements for owned and interfacing components.
o Create and maintain component specifications.
o Investigate and resolve any issues throughout lifecycle of components.
* Delivery:
o Lead cross-functional team to deliver components to the programme to quality, cost, weight, function and timing requirements.
o Manage software delivery to the correct quality and feature level for each integration point.
o Ensure that the commodity meets the feature plan at an each stage to support all dependent systems (with the component suppliers), creating and managing recovery plans as required. This also includes releasing components (BoM, tooling launch).
* Validation:
o Create and manage the commodity’s virtual and physical development plan.
o Ensure effective report writing to evidence component and system compliance to specification.
o Ensure that all concerns and testing issues are robustly resolved.
o Complete final engineering sign-off documentation for commodities.
Qualifications
* Proven record of delivering hardware and software commodities, including quality, cost, function, weight and timing.
* Relevant experience with Body Electronics or similar commodities.
* Extensive knowledge of automotive development systems, e.g. specification, releasing, concerns, containments, gateways and sign off documentation.
* Experience of leading a cross functional team, including complex issue resolution.
* Supplier management experience.
* Complete knowledge of Product Development cycle from concept to launch completion.
* Technical engineering background.
* Knowledge of automotive quality tools and processes.
* Requirements writing (including use of software tools such as Polarion, Doors, Jama, etc.)
* Knowledge of CAN tools to diagnose vehicle behaviour and faults.
