Job Summary
We are a friendly supportive GP surgery in Bow E3, with about 4,000 registered patients. We are looking for a thorough and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant with good communication skills to assist the GPs and Practice Nurse in the delivery of excellent care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for running your own clinical session and completing patient records on our clinical system.
Your will responsible for undertaking
B12, shingles and and pneumococcal injections
health checks
basic dressings
ECGs,
Flu and Covid vaccines (seasonal)
Urinalysis
Weight management
Phlebotomy
Working with the Practice Nurse and other clinicians/non clinicians within the Surgery.
Disposal of clinical waste in line with infection control
Restocking and maintenance of equipment

The Healthcare Assistant ( HCA) will work as an integral part of the clinical team at Ruston Street Clinic, supporting the delivery of safe high quality and patient focused care.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Urinalysis
Phlebotomy
ECG Recording
Wound dressing
Blood Pressure Monitoring
Clearing and restocking consulting rooms
Administering vaccinations e.g. Vitamin B12, Influenza and Pneumococcal
Undertake new patient health checks and NHS health checks.
Support the clinicians with the management of chronic disease clinics.
Calling/texting patients to ask them in for reviews.
Chronic disease review which may include home visits.

Qualifications
Essential
* Previous experience in a Gp surgery.
* Competency in phlebotomy, ECG and routine dressings.
* Confident in taking BP, foot pulses and carrying out physical checks.
* Knowledge or experience of working with patients with long term conditions.
* Able to work independently and as part of a term.
* Good communication and record keeping skills.
* Experience administering vaccinations.
Desirable
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care ( or Equivalent)

* Experience in wound care, including dressings and basic infection control procedures.

* Confident in maintaining accurate clinical records and patient documentation.
* Experience in using clinical systems or basic IT applications e.g. EMIS
