We are a working with an excellent environmental services company who provide sustainable waste management, recycling, and resource recovery solutions to commercial, industrial, and public sector clients. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Credit Controller to join our finance team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the company maintains strong cash flow, manages credit risk effectively, and delivers a professional service to our customers. Purpose of the Role The Credit Controller will take ownership of the company's debtor ledger, ensuring prompt collection of outstanding invoices, accurate account maintenance, and strong communication with both customers and internal departments. The role requires a balance of persistence, professionalism, and customer care. Key Responsibilities Manage and control the collection of outstanding debts across a diverse customer base. Chase overdue payments by telephone, email, and written correspondence in line with company policy. Accurately allocate receipts and maintain up-to-date records of all customer transactions. Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers to support timely payments. Liaise with internal departments (Sales, Operations, and Customer Services) to resolve invoicing or service-related queries quickly and effectively. Regularly review customer credit limits and recommend adjustments where appropriate. Prepare and distribute weekly aged debt and cash collection reports. Escalate problem accounts to management and prepare files for legal action or third-party collection where necessary. Contribute to monthly cash flow forecasting and support month-end reporting. Identify opportunities for process improvement within the credit control function. Skills and Experience Essential: A minimum of three years' experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role. Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer-focused approach. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting or ERP systems (e.g. Sage, NetSuite, or similar).
