Are you someone who prides themselves on ensuring an environment is not only safe but the best it can possibly be? Our Caretakers are individuals who take care of our buildings, providing safe spaces for residents and team members, and going above and beyond to keep our buildings well-maintained and looking fantastic.
As a Caretaker at Student Roost, you will be involved in all aspects of building maintenance, from carrying out small repairs to escorting third-party contractors for issues within your building. You will also lead compliance checks with a keen eye for detail and precise reporting skills. And just as you care for our buildings and the people within them, we’ll take care of you.
Think you’re the right fit for this role? We hope so too.
You’ll be someone we can count on to:
OWN
* Be the engine room of the property, responding confidently to urgent maintenance issues and reporting problems swiftly if you cannot fix them.
* Bring your personality to work—your whole self—to foster a positive environment, recognizing that every student and team is unique.
* Take pride in the day-to-day maintenance of the property, focusing on customer service, attention to detail, and respectful approaches, as if it were your own home.
DO
* Ensure the property’s safety through accurate compliance checks and prompt reporting of non-compliance issues.
* Identify and address repairs or replacements needed, from painting and shelving to unblocking drains and fixing leaks.
* Develop an understanding of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and become your site’s go-to for PPM queries.
* Manage your property’s bin store area and ensure contaminated waste is correctly disposed of.
LEARN
* Get started with our online learning platform and attend in-person training to develop your skills.
* Prioritize safety and welfare, using equipment safely and efficiently, and supervising contracted landscapers and engineers.
* Learn the quirks of your building to become its maintenance expert, understanding areas requiring additional care.
COLLABORATE
* Work closely with the site manager and assistant manager to report maintenance issues and ensure timely preventative maintenance.
* Contribute to our culture of openness and innovation, sharing ideas for improvements.
The ‘us’ part
Beyond properties, Student Roost values its people—property teams, support staff, and more—who make our residents’ experience exceptional. We seek individuals who want to make a difference daily, and in return, we support your career growth, reward your efforts, and celebrate your unique qualities.
Simply put: you do you, so we grow together.
Psst… there are some challenges too
* Repetitive statutory compliance tasks to ensure resident safety.
* Summer turnaround involving clearing out rooms, increased maintenance, and supporting busy periods.
Please note: This role requires a Basic DBS check as part of our pre-employment process.
